National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST), Berhampur, Odisha, established in 1996, is an Institute of National Importance, which provides a steady source of highly skilled talent for the nation as well as overseas. We are constantly evolving teaching methods, and providing a quality education to students, whom we see as unique individuals with different interests and aspirations.

From the beginning, NIST has focused on building leaders who deliver true value to the organizations that they work for – not just in terms of work-related competence, but also the strong ethics and values of the system that guides them as individuals and corporate citizens.

NIST students have high leadership potential. Our strong and experienced professors, who have taught and consulted across the country, helps guide and shape these students through a curriculum that has been built through regular interaction with the Industry. All along, the focus on building leaders with a strong character remains paramount.

Our Career Development department ensures placement for all the graduating final year students from different streams & strives to guide the students in achieving their career objectives through adequate personality and skill development programs. With structured moulding and vigorous training courses provided at NIST, our students become quite comfortable in undergoing practice sessions on the selection process of different Industries, such as Written Tests, Group Discussions, and Personal Interviews, etc & for this, we are tied-up with FACE, Coimbatore, which ensures that each of our students is industry-ready. It is a matter of great pride that top Corporate/MNCs/Start-ups visit NIST for Campus Recruitment and a good percentage of the students are selected by them every year. Some of our regular recruiters are Wipro, Infosys, Cybage, Mphasis, Adobe, Thoughtfocus, Cummins, Mindtree, KPIT, Sankalp Semiconductor etc. This year Western Digital hired two of our students with a CTC of INR 18.75 LPA.

Along with campus recruitment, we also motivate students for higher studies. We conduct GRE Workshops and GATE Classes on a regular basis. Every year, students get selected by top Indian and Foreign Universities for higher studies and PSU’s. Many of our pass-out students went to foreign universities like New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA, National Chiai Tung University, Taiwan, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, Ming Chuan University Taiwan, Maryland University USA, University of California Riverside (USA), California State University, Northridge, USA, Fang Chia University Taiwan, etc and IITs to pursue their Masters or Doctorate. Our Capstone projects like the F-1 Formula racing Car are extremely competitive and go on to win prizes at national and international events. We have collaborations with Universities all over the world and this year the MoU with IIT/Kanpur was signed for incubation support and mentoring. Our Center of Excellence in VLSI Design and Testing has now become established as a highly reputed center for R & D and has produced 3 PhDs and research support of Rs. 3.0 Crore. For the first time a TESOLVE has decided to train all its new recruits at our Center of Excellence.

These qualities of character, competence, and enthusiasm in our students, have ensured a firm and lasting bond between NIST and a large number of Corporates that regularly recruit from us every year. Our Alumni base of over 13000, spread out across major Companies in India and globally, provides ample testimony of these strong relationships. They are consistently delivering value to the organizations they work for.

With NIST continuing on its journey of producing inspired leaders, Kumari Sunita, an Alumnus of NIST has cleared Indian Administrative Services “IAS – 2018” in her first attempt ranking 269 All Over India. Many more NISTians are leading various industries and I am confident that our students shall further enrich our bonds with the Industry, and NIST shall continue to be a destination of choice for recruiting organizations for the years to come.

This year 2019-20 we have surpassed all records with 700 + job offers for the graduating batch of 2020. The highest package has been 18.75 Lacs per annum by Western Digital. We have many entrepreneurs and startups who have made it to Startup India and Startup Odisha and are incubated in IITs or NITs. We have now our own Incubation Center Incuvations Foundation which will receive a grant of Rs. 1.00 Crore from the Government of Odisha to fund startups and mentor them. Our Alumni Chandan Kumar Rauto (2018 batch and presently incubated at KiiT) has even offering a Covid-19 Digital Screening Live (https://amourlab.github.io) driven by AI to protect ourselves from Covid by accessing our symptoms if any and also has innovative home automation products through his company Prakrika Technology (P) Limited. Our Alumni Sai Krishna (2019 batch) has been highly decorated from the Govt of Odisha and Govt of India and won a number of hackathons. He is incubated at IIT, Bhubaneswar working on revolutionizing the agriculture situation by IoT driven highly automated hydroponics and aquaponics agriculture which will ensure 8 crops per year instead of two now ( www.modernacres.in).

In a bold act of reverse Engineering Asish Subudhi of our First Batch (1996-2000) has quit the top post in Ericson in Dubai to becoming an Organic Farmer at Berhampur. May his Tribe Increase!
